After five weeks off because of the flooding we finally got back to work this last week. Things are still not quite back to normal but at least we are able to fish. Best fishing for us has been bait drifted in less than 30 feet of water. Fish up to 10 pounds last week. Some days are good using topwater and some are not. This bite is off and on. Sassy Shad have been the same way. Bait has been by far the most consistent and has been fairly easy to catch early. It sure does seem good to be able to run again. While I was off I went on a hunt for a second boat that we needed so badly this year and I landed a nice one. This 20' Falcon King Striper will not only make a fine lure and bait fishing boat but will also let us fish groups up to 10 without having to call around to line up another guide boat. She is powered by a big bad 225hp Johnson. Fall fishing is just around the corner and the gulls should be here the third week of September. Rock-n-Roll fishing under the birds, Hard to beat.
