Experienced anglers and avid sportsmen agree that Lake Texoma fishing guide Rick Sproat is one of the finest guides in Texas. Blessed with a really friendly and humble personality plus some in-depth fishing knowledge you will hear nothing but high praise from his friends, family, and customers.

That is Rick in the picture in one of his most comfortable spots, behind the wheel of his Lake Texoma guide boat tooling around the lake.

Captain Rick is an expert Texas fishing guide and is knowledgeable in all phases and styles of fishing in Lake Texoma, but it is the striper fishing Rick loves most. Rick knows what techniques to use and when to use them to ensure his charter customers have the best chance and advantage possible to catch fish.

Although Rick is a Captain he prefers to keep it very informal and just be addressed as Rick. Rick is a good ole guy from Texas and when you fish with him you will find out immediately how friendly he is. Not only is he friendly but he displays an abundance of patience, a must have quality for a professional fishing guide. He has patience to find the fish, patience to wait on the bite, and above all plenty of patience with his customers.

Maybe you aren’t an an avid angler and don’t know what to expect on a Texoma charter fishing trip. Well rest easy as Rick will make you feel absolutely comfortable and doesn’t mind one bit sharing his expertise he has accumulated over his many years of fishing in Texas and Lake Texoma.

Rick makes sure that when he is out on the lake that his clients get what they are paying for. He often gets up at 2:00 am is on the water by 3:30 catching bait. Rick will always make sure that he has live baits as well as every type of artificial bait that is working well for any particular fishing season. Rick does not set a time limit on his trips he will stay on the water as long as his clients want him as it is their day and he wants to make sure they have memories and plenty of fish to take home with them.

Currently Rick is mainly a Lake Texoma striper fishing guide but in addition to being a Texoma fishing guide Rick has guided on other Texas lakes that includes Lake Lewisville, Lake Fork, and Monticello Lake. Rick has fished all over the state of Texas but prefers to be a Texoma striper fishing guide. When Rick first started as a Texas fishing guide he offered crappie, sand bass, catfish and striper trips. But now as we already metioned it’s the striper fishing that is in Rick’s heart these days.

In addition to fishing Lake Texoma and being a Texoma striper guide Rick is an avid outdoorsman. Rick is trophy archer, bow hunts when his schedule permits and has guided many deer, hog, and dove hunts. His genuine love and respect for the great outdoors is what led him to give up his trade as a custom carpenter in 1991 to become a full time Lake Texoma fishing guide.

Rick’s friends and family call him their “whisper” as he is a natural with any animal and when it comes to fishing Lake Texoma he always seems to know where the fish are and even if they are going to be biting or not. Rick’s wife Betsy tells a story about Rick of how they can be powering across the lake at 50mph and when Rick sees a blip on the fish finder, he quickly stops the boat, scouts the water and the next thing you know he is telling verybody to get their poles ready and within minutes we are reeling in nice sized Lake Texoma striper. Rick is just a good ole boy who loves the outdoors and loves to fish and when you fish with Rick there is no doubt you will absolutely enjoy your trip, you can count on that.

Rick became a member of The Six Old Geezers last year (they are well known on Lake Texoma) and has earned a reputation for being one of best fishing guides on Texoma. This year there have only been three Lake Texoma fishing trips that did not catch or exceed their limit (10 per person).
